Pay It Forward

I love helping new authors.  It's something that others did for me and I really appreciated what those writers did to help me learn.  In fact, I started thinking about a lot of things that others taught me and what a blessing it has been.  Then today when Jim was helping show someone research information and talking about history it dawned on me just what a blessing learning can be.

My grandmother taught me to embroider and I love having that small part of her.  I think of her whenever I get a chance to stitch a delicate pattern.  In Girl Scouts I was able to get my embroidery badge so fast that I helped other girls to learn and all thanks to Grandma.

My great-aunt and great-grandmother told me how it was important to learn to roll a round pie crust so that I could get a good husband.  They showed me how to roll the crust and make it just so.

My mother taught me to play piano and I in turn showed my children.  My son Erik is quite talented and makes up many of his own songs.

There are other things people have taught me, but the reason I brought this up was to encourage you in those things you've been taught.

Maybe you're a really talented cook - pay it forward - teach someone else.

Good at teaching the Bible - start a study - pay it forward and teach another to teach and study the Word of God.

Can you repair cars?  Paint glorious paintings?  Groom or train dogs?  Garden?  You can benefit someone else by paying it forward and donating your time to share what you know.

There are so many things that have been lost over the years because no one cared to pay it forward. Today I encourage you to think about the things you can do and share your talents with someone else.  In fact, tell us about your talents here.  I'd love to know what you're really good at.

We're Having a Party!

I mentioned that we're going to have a facebook party on September 26.  This is going to be a lot of fun and the publisher is giving away a Kindle Fire.  I have one of these and LOVE it, so I know that whoever wins is going to love having this.  Also giving the winner a set of the Land of the Lonestar series.

You can checkout all the details at this website link:

The Land of the Lonestar and Striking a Match series were so much fun to research.

Texas and the people who live there were so wonderful to me.  I also had a lot of fun with the quirky characters. Readers have sent me numerous requests to let them know something more about the characters in the two series so I am excited to announce that we're having a wedding to marry these series together or at least marry a couple of characters together as well as introduce new ones.  You can look for that to debut in 2014.

I hope to see all of you at the party next week.

On another note - thank you so much for the many prayers given for my granddaughter Rainy.  She's doing much better now, although still recovering from viral menengitis.  For those of you who didn't know about her recent hospitalization all I can say is - God is sooooo good.  Rainy was put in the hospital last Friday and we put out a request for prayer and by Tuesday she had started to turn around.

God's faithfulness never fails to amaze me.  I know that Rainy won't always be with us - in fact - all of us will leave this world someday, but what amazes me is God's mercy and grace.  When I think about how much God loves us it leaves me in such a state of worship and I think of that worship song that says, "I'm amazed by you...how you love me."

Take some time today to rest in that love and really let it pour over you.

This and That

I want to make sure everyone knows about a Facebook Party we're having on the 26th of September.  We're giving away a Kindle Fire. More information will be forth coming so just keep checking here at the blog.

A few of you have emailed to ask how goes my endeavors to climb the M and the weight loss. With all the smoke in our area, climbing the M has been out of the question. You can't see the mountains, much less the M.
The weight continues to come off in little bits - which is exactly what the weight loss doctor wanted even though the neurologist would just as soon see it come off really fast. So hopefully once the forest fires are extinguished - and we have over 500 firefighters on the ground working so hard to do just that - I'll head back to the M.

We are excited to announce there is a little bunny living under one of our decks. This isn't him - but he looks just like this. Reminds me of a little song John Denver sand that started, "Tools was a baby rabbit...." Maybe we'll call him Tools.

I'm worried for him because our cat Calvin
likes to attack and kill anything he sees as a threat. Hubby Jim says he only attacks when the opposition is armed and dangerous - but I'm not sure that's his only motivation. Anyway, we love rabbits in this household - in fact - my hubby claims a close and personal relationship with rabbits of all shapes and sizes.

And last but not least - Bible Study Fellowship (BSF) has started up again for the year and this year we're studying Genesis. I'm so excited to be a part of this and want to encourage any and all - if you're looking for a great Bible study - this organization has some of the best. You can check out their website at http://www.bsfinternational.org/.

They have one study for women and a separate one for men. They also have childcare where the kids study the same things as the adults. It's been such a blessing to me in the past and I know it will be great fun to go over all those old stories we cut our teeth on in Sunday School. I will admit that BSF isn't for the faint of heart - they work you for sure. You will be blessed by it, however.

Thanks for all the prayers and please keep them coming. The closest fires are 60% contained so that's good news, but it's still terribly smokey. We want to surround those firefighters, smokejumpers, pilots, victims of the fire and all the others who are involved in this year's forest fires, with prayer.

Blessings

New book and Shameless Promotion

I'm happy to announce that the third book in the Land of the Lonestar series is now available. TAMING THE WIND concludes the series and deals with characters from the first two books CHASING THE SUN and TOUCHING THE SKY.  I just love this cover!

I'm also happy to let readers know that many of my very first books published through Heartsong/Barbour Books are now available in digital form. Amazon.com and Christianbook.com as well as others are carrying many of these titles. For instance I learned that the following books are available:

Also available in book form:

These are just a few of those available.  You can go to my website at www.traciepeterson.com and click on books and then bibliography to get a complete list of my book titles.

Bethany House has also released some previously out-of-print titles. Here are just a few:
